Water System

Important information about our rainwater and septic systems

Septic System

Please flush toilet paper only. All other items (including wipes, feminine products, and paper towels) should go in the trash.

Rainwater

The house runs entirely on rainwater. You can use everything normally, but please be mindful of water usage.

Turning Water ON (On Arrival)

In the storage closet through the laundry room, plug in both the water heater and the hot water circulator.

Shutting Water OFF (On Departure)

In the storage closet through the laundry room, unplug both the water heater and the hot water circulator.

Garbage Disposal

Only put soft foods down the disposal. Do not put eggshells, bones, or other hard items down the drain.

Outdoor Shower

To use the outdoor shower, turn on the water under the sink in the kid’s bathroom.

For Guests Staying May-October

The water system will have been shut off for the summer season, so you’ll need to re-establish consistent water level and pressure for the house.

1

Follow all the steps above to turn the water on inside the house.

2

Walk to the water tank and locate the green lid with an orange stake next to it. Turn the red knob to the closed position.

When you leave, turn the knob back to the open position. Any remaining water in the system will flush out through the pipe.
